Liberty Bound bred 2x3 to Gone West

Saturday's 3-year-old Gulfstream maiden-winning colt Liberty Bound is in-bred 2x3 to Gone West. He's by Mr. Greeley, and his dam, Hello Liberty, is out of a Gone West mare. Hello Liberty was flat out fast, winning two of her three starts at 2, and taking the Nassau County at 3 before battling Bushfire the entire length of the Acorn and just coming up short.

Liberty Bound appears a nice $110,000 2-year-old buy for Dogwood. He worked a 1/4 in 21 3/5 before that sale, which was Keeneland April. I don't feel like looking exactly where that ranked, but oddly I do see a couple of horses I know who sold close to his hip and went 21 2/5: those were Inny Minnie, who's already placed in the Delta Downs Princess and the Silverbulletday (run yesterday) and the maiden tease Punctual Jeff, who impressed me at Saratoga but just can't get over the hump (ran 2nd on Gulfstream's Saturday card in his latest race).

Liberty Bound's time in the first-out maiden win Saturday was just average, but the manner of victory was very strong. He came from a bit off the pace, rather than bolting to the lead, so that may explain the merely solid time of the juvenile work.
